Once you are on the project page, look at the status pill in the top-right of the side panel:

PART D

Canvas Scanning & Virtual Scroller Handling

Google Flow uses a modern virtualized viewport: only tiles currently visible on your monitor are kept in the DOM. Tiles scrolled far out of view are unmounted to save GPU memory.

When you click "Scan Project", Flow Media Downloader:

  1. Detects Flow's active canvas scroller container.
  2. Smoothly sweeps through the project canvas to trigger full lazy-loading.
  3. Registers each video and image tile with its unique element ID, creation timestamp, and DOM metadata.
  4. Returns cleanly to the top of your canvas without disturbing your view.

Your stats grid updates instantly with Total Media, Videos, Pictures, and Saved counts, and populates the Detected Media list.

PART E

Curating Your List โ€” Delete Items & Clear All

Once you click "Scan Project", Flow Media Downloader displays the complete list of detected videos and pictures directly in the panel:

Selective Download Control: You have complete control over which clips end up in your Downloads folder without wasting bandwidth or disk space on discarded takes.
PART F

Quality: 4K Ultra HD, 1080p & Original

Flow Media Downloader supports all quality tiers offered by Google Flow:

Automatic Fallback Safety: If Flow takes unusually long to render an upscaled 4K or 1080p clip (over 3 minutes), the extension automatically saves the original quality version so no video is ever lost or skipped.
PART G

Sequential File Numbering

Organize your media automatically for editing software like Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or CapCut:

PART H

The "Save Missing Files" Super-feature

What happens if your internet dropped midway through downloading 100 clips, or you added 15 new clips to your project later? You do NOT need to download everything again!

Simply click the "Save Missing Files" button:

  1. The extension rescans the canvas in the open Flow tab.
  2. It checks which sequence numbers (e.g. 001 to 100) are already safely saved on your computer.
  3. It creates a precise queue containing ONLY the missing or failed files.
  4. It downloads them smoothly with their correct sequence numbers.
Zero Duplicates: With "Skip files already downloaded before" enabled, you will never end up with duplicate files cluttering your hard drive.
PART I

Queue Control & Background Sleep Prevention

While downloads are running, real-time controls appear:

Keep the Flow Tab Open: Chrome throttles javascript timers in closed or deeply backgrounded tabs. Keep the Flow tab open in Chrome. You can work in another window or do other work, but leave the tab open. Flow Media Downloader automatically claims a Power Keep-Awake Lock so your computer won't go to sleep during large downloads.
PART J

Common Questions & Answers (FAQ)

1 How does 4K Ultra HD & 1080p Upscale work?
โ–พ
Google Flow produces standard 720p resolution preview clips in its web interface. When you ask for 4K or 1080p, Flow Media Downloader interacts directly with Flow's three-dots action menu on each tile, requests the upscale rendering from Google Flow's AI cloud servers, monitors the download progress, and automatically captures the high-resolution file directly into your chosen folder with exact numbering.
2 What does "Save Missing Files" do?
โ–พ
If your internet connection failed on a couple of files during a 200-clip batch, or if you created 20 new videos after already downloading 100 clips earlier, click "Save Missing Files". The extension scans your project, compares what you already have on your hard drive, and downloads ONLY the missing clips without duplicating the existing ones.
3 How does sequential numbering work (001.mp4, 002.mp4)?
โ–พ
Selecting "Oldest first" gives number 001 to the first video generated in your project, 002 to the second, and so on. You can customize the starting number, the digit padding (01, 001, 0001), and add custom filename prefixes like SceneA_.
4 Can I download both videos and images?
โ–พ
Yes! In the Download Settings dropdown "Save Types", you can choose "Both Videos & Pictures", "Videos Only", or "Pictures Only".
5 Do I need to keep the Google Flow tab open?
โ–พ
Yes. Keep the Flow tab open in Chrome so that Chrome doesn't throttle background javascript execution. You can minimize the window or work in another app. The extension also includes an automatic power lock to prevent your computer from going to sleep while downloading.
6 Is my media data private and safe?
โ–พ
Completely private. All media files are downloaded directly from Google Flow straight onto your local computer. None of your videos, images, or project files are ever uploaded, analyzed, or sent to any third party.
